The preparedness topic for February is First Aid Kits. This is something so basic and so essential and yet many people neglect it.
Bulletin Message
"You never know where you'll be when cut or injured so always have a first aid kit nearby. Have one at home and a kit in every car. Mothers may want a mini-first aid kit in their purse. See your Ward Emergency Preparedness Specialist, <insert name>, for a list of recommended first aid items. If you already have old kits, update them because supplies can go bad after several years."
First Sunday Message (EPS: Ward Business)
<please customize the message to fit your ward>
Introduce the topic: My February challenge to you is to make or update first aid kits for your home and cars.
Explain why this is important: Share a brief (1 minute) story of when a 1st aid kit saved your day.
How to get more information: To help you get started, a check list of items to include in a First Aid Kit is available [.... printed, email, poster, ....]

<Please DO NOT read the attached list in sacrament meeting. There is not time for that and few will remember what is said.>
I was teasing my wife Amy about including a finger nail clipper in the list. Then the next day while shopping I was bothered by an annoying hangnail so I asked if she had a nail clipper in her purse. She replied, "Of course. I told you this was important to have on hand."
May you always have exactly what you need on hand when misfortunes occur.
